Dear Resident, Our officers assisted in the arrest of a male wanted for a disorder on Friday. The male was driving a vehicle that triggered the automatic number plate recognition cameras as he drove through the city. The vehicle was stopped and the male arrested and transported to Coventry custody.
Members of our team joined the search for a missing person on Saturday night. The person had gone missing in a woodland area. After an hour of searching the persons was located with the help of the National Police Air Service (NPAS) helicopter which was able to find a heat source and direct officers to the person.
Whilst out on patrols of local Anti-social Behaviour (ASB) hotspots one of our officers came across a vehicle parked in a multi story car park which was part residential and part business. The officer knew from local knowledge of the car park that the vehicle was not one of the vehicles normally present at the location at that time of night so he ran some checks using the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) which showed that the vehicle was stolen from the Staffordshire area. Due to the position the vehicle was parked in the car park meaning the recovery truck was not able to get in to recover the vehicle and the officer had no keys to drive the vehicle out, The recovery agent had to use a very special piece of kit to lift the car and take it out of the car park to the waiting recovery truck This Yamaha motorcycle was also recovered by officers after it failed to stop and was then abandoned. The rider made off but the officers were able to recover the motorcycle which had been stolen in September from Nuneaton area. This week has been another busy one for vehicle seizures. During the course of the week three vehicles have been seized for different motoring offences. This LandRover was stopped by officers after the driver was seen using their mobile phone. The vehicle was stopped and it transpired that the driver was driving with an expired driving licence and was not insured on the vehicle. The vehicle was seized and the driver reported for numerous offences. This VW Passat was seized by officers for no insurance. The driver had just bought the vehicle but failed to insure the car before driving it. Officers also stopped and seized a Peugeot 207 and Mazda 2 (below) that were being driven poorly. Both vehicles were being driven by persons with a Provisional Licence only and with No Insurance. The vehicles were taken away by our recovery agent and the driver of each vehicle will be reported for the offences committed.
